Connect Cursor in four steps.

Short answer: yes. Cursor supports remote MCP servers with sign-in. Add Brainstack to your mcp.json with your brain's address, sign in with your Brainstack account when Cursor asks, and ask from the Agent chat.

  1. 1

    Copy your brain's address

It's in Brainstack, under team AI access.

  2. 2

    Add it to mcp.json

Paste this into ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or into .cursor/mcp.json to share it with one repository.

Team admins can also share Brainstack with the whole team from the Cursor dashboard.

  3. 3

Cursor sees that Brainstack needs a login. Click it and sign in with your own Brainstack account.

  4. 4

    Ask from the Agent chat

Ask in plain words. Cursor calls Brainstack when your question needs company context.

Cursor and Brainstack, at a glance.

Where it works
The Cursor editor, from the Agent chat.
Setup
One entry in ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one repository). Team admins can share it with everyone.
Sign-in
OAuth with each person's Brainstack account. No API keys in config files.
What Cursor can reach
Knowledge, tasks and projects (beta), only in the spaces that person's role can open.
Your code
Brainstack answers what Cursor asks. It doesn't read your repository.
Where your data lives
The brain stays on your own server in the US or Europe. Cursor and its model providers process what they receive under your Cursor plan.

Questions, answered.

Does Cursor work with Brainstack?

Yes. Cursor supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. Add Brainstack to mcp.json, sign in, and the Agent chat can answer from your company's knowledge, tasks and projects.

Global or project config?

Use ~/.cursor/mcp.json to have Brainstack in every project. Use .cursor/mcp.json inside a repository to share the entry with the team; each person still signs in with their own account.

Is there an API key in the config?

No. The config only holds your brain's address. Access comes from each person signing in, so the file is safe to commit.

Does Brainstack read our code?

No. Brainstack answers the questions Cursor sends it. Your repository stays where it is.

Will Cursor see everything in our brain?

No. Each developer signs in as themselves and sees only the spaces their role can open.

What does it cost?

Team AI access comes with every Brainstack plan, from $99 a month. Your team keeps its Cursor plan.

Cursor support checked on October 26, 2026.

Ship with the client's context, not a guess.
