Where they really differ.

Company knowledge

Brainstack

Brainstack builds a company brain from the apps you connect, with sources. Agents work from it, and each person's Claude or ChatGPT can connect to it with their own permissions (beta).

Squad

Squad builds a shared context graph and memory from your conversations and apps, for its AI teammates. Its site doesn't mention your team's own AI connecting to it.

Bottom line: If your people already use Claude or ChatGPT every day, Brainstack lets that AI use the same knowledge as your agents.

Where your data runs

Brainstack

Every customer gets their own private server, in the US or Europe, with encrypted backups every 6 hours. Your AI provider processes what an agent sends it, under your plan’s terms.

Squad

Every squad gets a dedicated cloud computer with separate logins per teammate. Its site doesn't say in which region.

Bottom line: If you have to answer "where is our data?", Brainstack gives you a one-line answer.

Agents and approvals

Brainstack

3, 10 or 25 agents working, from 27 ready-made agents in five areas, each with its own dashboard. Sending, publishing, spending and amounts over a limit wait for your yes.

Squad

Unlimited AI teammates with scheduled jobs, one-tap approvals in a ticket queue, and daily caps on what goes out.

Bottom line: Squad wins on the number of agents. Brainstack wins on structure: dashboards per agent and per department.

Price

Brainstack

$99, $499 or $999 a month, sized by agents, people and apps. Your AI plan on top, at the provider’s price.

Squad

$99 a month. Extra people $9 each, an inbox per teammate $10, another squad $99. Your AI plan on top.

Bottom line: For one to three people, Squad costs less. For a team that wants one brain and EU hosting, Brainstack is the one built for it.

Who each one is built for.

Brainstack

Brainstack fits when

  • Your team already uses Claude or ChatGPT and you want it to know the company
  • You sell to or work in the EU and need a clear answer on data
  • You want agents per department, each with a dashboard
  • You want help setting it up (kickoff on Growth, built with you on Enterprise)
Squad

Squad fits when

  • You want as many AI teammates as you like for one price
  • You're one to three people and price matters most
  • You want to stack several AI subscriptions with fallbacks
  • Hosting region isn't a question your customers ask

Moving from Squad, step by step.

  1. Pick the plan that fits

Starter for up to 3 people, Growth up to 10, Scale up to 30. Your own server is ready after you pay.

  2. Connect the same apps

Gmail, Slack, HubSpot, Notion, Drive, Stripe and 100+ more. The brain starts learning from them.

  3. Recreate your jobs as agents

Start from a role template and keep the same schedule your Squad teammates had.

  4. Turn on approvals, then switch over

Run both for a week if you like. On Growth, we do the 60-minute kickoff with you.

Questions people ask us.

Is Brainstack cheaper than Squad?

Not for a small team. Squad is $99 for the squad plus $9 per extra person. Brainstack is $99 for up to 3 people and 3 agents, and a team of 4 to 10 people is on Growth at $499. Both add your own AI plan on top.

Can I use my ChatGPT or Claude plan with both?

Yes. Both run on the AI plan you bring. Brainstack works with Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, paid to the provider at their price, with no markup from us.

Does Squad have a company brain?

Squad builds a shared context graph and memory for its AI teammates. What its site doesn't mention is your team's own Claude or ChatGPT connecting to that knowledge, which Brainstack does (beta).

Where does my data live with each one?

Brainstack runs on a server only your company uses, in the US or Europe, with encrypted backups every 6 hours. Squad gives each squad a dedicated cloud computer and doesn't state the region on its site.

Does either have SOC 2?

Brainstack doesn't have SOC 2 or ISO 27001 yet. Squad doesn't name any certification on its site.
